Crazy Morning

On Friday Todd and I were leaving our house to walk to school, but we noticed it was raining so we decided to drive to school instead. As we were walking to the car we saw a man riding his bicycle with his daughter in front of him sitting on the bar before the handlebars. All of a sudden the bike stopped and the little girl (probably age 4-6) started screaming. We walked to where they were and the dad was holding her up because her foot was lodged between the bar and the spokes in the wheel.

She was screaming so much, with good reason, because the momentum and the weight of her dad were completely stopped by her little ankle. Todd started helping the man to get her ankle unstuck, but they weren't having much luck. They couldn't figure out how to get it out so Todd asked if he should just bend the spokes which would give them enough room. After about 4 minutes of trying and screaming from the girl they were able to get it out by bending the spokes. I felt awful for the little girl because it must have been so painful, but I felt even more awful for the father who must have felt terrible. We don't know if the girl's ankle was broken or not because we had to go to class. As we were leaving the dad was just sitting on the ground with the girl cuddling and holding her. I am glad that we were able to be there to help him at that time.
